I was talking to a gentleman in the waiting room at the physical therapist office today. He had lost 50 pounds in the last year. I asked him how he had done it. He said he had been using P90x and P90x one on one. It came out that he had spent $650 on P90x, P90x one on one vols. 1 and 2, plus needed equipment. He was thinking of spending another $240 to get P90x one on one vol. 3. That seemed insane to me.

I told him that for $35 he could get a Bodylastics Max Tension resistance band set. Then he could head over to Liveexercise.com and have access to over 1,400 workouts. The economics make much more sense. He then told me that "Tony Horton is a genius. Those other guys probably don't know what they're doing. You'll get hurt."

He ripped a muscle in his shoulder while doing push ups. He had his feet in a chair and his hands on a balance ball. His hand slipped off the ball and he fell on his arm at an awkward angle. He was injured during a P90x one on one workout. Yet, he defends Tony Horton by saying the other guys might be dangerous.

I guess some people have to defend things after they invest so much in to them. The episode reminded me to remain open minded regardless of how much I have invested in a particular thing, system, or cause.

It also reminded me why I love Live Exercise. For the cost of admission it can't be beat.

I started using bodylastics 46 days ago in preparation for going to Cuba in August. After only this time I am seeing great changes in my body especially upper body. My legs are genetically small so I know it will take a while for them to catch up. I never miss a workout but my diet lets me down. I have a few good days then let myself down. I work 5 days a week from 8 till 4 so usually work out after work. I was hoping someone would have a good diet I could follow so I can strip this fat and start seeing my abs. Help!!!!!!

Hey all I thaught I'd post a question regarding cardio and diet. Bit of information I'm 5'7" 172lb and I've been trying to burn this last bit of fat and while mataining my mussle even gain if possable. I've been doing the workouts for about 3-4months and love them. Druing the week I get up and typically do an hour of cardio, usually 70-80% MHR on average burning 550-700 cals per session, then I do chiseled and either eight pack or 10 min abs after work in the afternoon. Weekends varies depending if there a chiseled show if not I typically to hard cardio for an hour and sundays I take off doing Yoga or streching. I can't seem to break through this last bit to start burning the remaining fat I have and was wondering if I was doing to much cardio and causeing my body to hold on to the calories I'm taking in. My diet is good I take in around 2400 callories a day with 200-250g of that being protein eaqual amounts of carbs and picking the rest of my callories from healthy fats. I've been doing the cardo part of my routine for the better part of 6mo. I was just wondering if I reduce my time and intensity and pick up some more weight training if I could get my body in to gear.

Thanks in advance

I go by the name of Fatty 'R Buckle. It is a play on names, but in reality I am not THAT fat. I am a 5'9" tall male, and on February 1 weighed 195 pounds. "Stocky" you say? Yeah, in the mid section, but I have bird legs. So, let's just say that my tummy is at LEAST 36 inches (belly fat hanging over my belt)but my legs are that of a gazelle. My chest is normal, perhaps a little developed because of life-long lifting things correctly after a high school football spinal fusion. Alright. That is how I am made up. So, to begin things, I am going to tell you that I purchased Bodylastics basic set (2 handles, 2 anchors, the colors but no black or orange)for my GIRLFRIEND who has recently had 3-level cervical fusion with plates put in --- yeah, the Peyton Manning surgery but 3 levels, not the 1 level he had. Fast forward --- she has not used them, but I started to use them the first week of February. At the time, I was taking anti-depressants after having been diagnosed with Major Depression. I weighed 195 and, after purchasing some calipers to measure my body fat, my composition was somewhere between 40% and 45% body fat -- almost all around my mid-section. This is where my story begins and where I will pick up from next time I post. Today is March 18th. I weigh 179. I am no longer taking anti-depressants. My body fat is now at 20%. This blog is about how I have gotten to this point using Bodylastics resistance bands, getting serious about how I eat (don't kid yourself, I have been eating French food!), how I continue to enjoy my drinks, and where I intend to go next. Until next time.... Fatty

I make little foil packets. 1st I lay down fresh baby spinach then top with my piece of fish. Squeeze and lemon wedge then leave it in there. I like to season with pepper and a sprinkle of paprika. I usually drizzle a little EVO or a dab of coconut oil in the pouch. Close up and bake.
Just kidding, kind of. I've been quiet lately because I came down with a horrible case of food poisoning Saturday Night/Sunday Morning. I spent all day Sunday with gut wrenching pain and not being able to keep any food down. One bout was so bad I passed out from the pain, so I went into the walk-in clinic who gave me hydrocodone for pain and Zofran for nausea. Well, neither worked and by 8:00 pm that night I started running a fever of 101F and couldn't even keep water down, so I shuffled off to the emergency room with my husband.

2 bags of IVs and a bunch a morphine later and I was able to make it through the night. I was given the OK to take a combination of Hydrocodone, Naproxen, and Zofran. The Zofran did zip, so I just dealt with the nausea. The only thing I can keep down is chicken broth, ice cream, jello, and diluted gatorade, so that has been my diet the last few days. I did try some breadsticks yesterday, but it cause such severe stomach cramping I won't be trying that again for awhile yet.

The nausea is gone for the most part and I am keeping liquids down without any pain finally. Solid foods still cause quite a bit of pain. I take just the Naproxen during the day so I can work without a fuzzy brain and then start the hydrocodone when I get home. My doctor said to skip the exercise until I am eating solid foods again without any pain (hopefully by this weekend).

On top of all this my allergies are acting up, but I haven't been able to take my allergy medication because it would make me so nauseous, so I have a runny nose, watery eyes, and junked up lungs. I'm going to take a Clariton today though since the nausea seems to be under control.

All in all, I'm pretty miserable, but at least am able to work. Exercise plans will be on hold until I get this under control. Oh and I am NEVER eating at that new restaurant ever again! I can't be 100% sure they gave it to me, but I bit into my seafood medley dish and the centers of the fish were still cold/slimy. I lost my appetite, but that is the only thing I can think of that would give me food poisoning. I ate at home the other meals and always measure my meat temperatures with a cooking thermometer before eating them.

I started dabbling with Live Exercise around December 21st of 2011. I became consistent in the middle of January. Let me just say, in sixty days I have drastically changed my body. I have dropped 12.5 pounds, or just over 1.5 pounds per week. I dropped a pant size and a shirt size. I have also visibly toned my body.

My wife snapped an "after" picture tonight. We compared it to one from December 21st. There is a big improvement in the muscle definition of my arms, shoulders, and waist. My torso and neck look like I've been through liposuction. My wife's first reaction when seeing the pictures side by side was, "oh wow." That was a priceless moment.

My answer to anybody that asks, "will it work" is an unqualified yes. If you put in the time and effort the programs here will change your body and your life.

In sixty days I went from dreading the mirror to anticipating a summer vacation at the beach. What can you accomplish?

So.... I'm allergic to gluten. But whatever, I don't mind a gluten free diet. BUT I realized I do need to make sure I do whatever I can to add variety to my meals. Not having a variety can lead to returning to old habits.

I did recently sneak and eat Pizza and ended up having issues. My symptoms have cleared up and I took to the internet to find out what else I could add to my food choices. To my delight, I can eat Oats. I love them and ended up buying Gluten Free steel cut oats and GF old fashioned rolled oats.

I'm about to cook some up in my rice cooker. I have a very small rice cooker which is good for introducing just a small amount of oats to my diet. I was also trying to find more ways to add fiber to my diet without taking psyllium husks, etc. Yeah, I'm probably the only person on earth who is afriad to eat psyllium husks.

I've been obsessed with eating Okra these days too. Not sure what that's all about but I just go with it.

I only recently decided to cook and eat artichokes and I can't believe I've denied myself artichokes all these years. I'm in LOVE with them, especially the baby ones. MMMMMMMMMMM MMMM!

Cheers!

Thank you to Heather, Blake, and Steve.

I was ecstatic today when I found out that I had dropped below 200lbs for the first time in 11 years. I was even more ecstatic to hear that all of my blood work came back perfect.

Six months ago the doctor and I were discussing the possibility of needing Niacin for cholesterol. We were also discussing the fact that I was borderline hypertensive. I was devastated to be 30 and discussing the fact that I was headed towards serious cardiac issues.

I started working out and eating better. I put more effort in to things but couldn't get consistent. Until I found Live Exercise I was slowly sliding to a halt. I just couldn't make myself drive to the gym three or four times a week anymore. It became a game of excuses.

Now because of you guys I have hit my stride again. I am working out between four and eight times a week. I look forward to coming on the website and seeing what the community is talking about. More importantly I look forward to what you guys will say and do.

Heather I enjoy the fact that you share everything with the viewer. It builds a bond that is so much more personal. It doesn't feel like I'm watching some robotic model go through the motions. I also enjoy the fact that you seem to constantly be listening and adapting to the workout partners. It makes things engaging and entertaining. Plus, the workouts are killer.

Steve, your humor kept me coming back. After I did Toning 83, I knew Football Training would be in my routine. Once I actually started the program I was amazed at the amount of knowledge you brought to the show. The humor drew me in. The way you imparted knowledge kept me coming back. I felt like there must be a reason for every move. When I didn't understand the reason you explained it. I also liked the fact that you are honest about the small things like smoking. Seeing a guy with your history and resume struggle with the moves makes us beginners feel like we have a chance. Thanks for the knowledge and humor. It makes an otherwise grueling workout fun.

Blake, what can be said? This is your kingdom and I appreciate the effort you put in to it everyday. I don't know how you do it. I've ran my own business, and I don't see how you pull it all off. To do it with such humor and dedication is inspiring. I know if you can maintain your humor and dedication to Chiseled through the grind of a family and running the business, I can make time for a couple of workouts. You provide a great system, a great site, and a great atmosphere. Even if it is virtual, this is the best place I've ever come to workout.

Thanks to you guys I have dropped 1.5lbs per week for six weeks. I have reached a weight level I thought was impossible. I have gained confidence in my ability to tackle my goals and dreams. Plus, I have developed a lifestyle that will ensure I get to be with my wife and daughter for many more years.

I know that you want to succeed with your body transformation, however, I will tell you right now that if you try to only eat brown rice, grilled chic...

I know that you want to succeed with your body transformation, however, I will tell you right now that if you try to only eat brown rice, grilled chicken breast and egg whites - YOU WILL FAIL. You will eventually give in to your cravings and binge. If you are one of the lucky ones that can eat like that day in and day out I envy you. However, most of us are not.

There is a better solution - Moderation and substitution. For Example today I was going to have 2 servings of oatmeal at 100 calories each. HOWEVER, my body is definitely craving sweets. If I don't feed that desire I will feel deprived and could easily slip and blow it later.

Solution: I will substitute in a bag of pretzel M&Ms for one of the Oatmeal servings (150 calories and 5 grams of fat). Then I will of course mark down the fact that I ate these calories and adjust something later to compensate for the extra 50 calories.

Will my body treat the Oatmeal better than the M&Ms? Probably, but in the grand scheme of my day and the way my body looks, it should not REALLY make a difference at all. I don't care what anyone tells you, a calorie is a calorie. If you are tracking your calories and you have a daily deficit YOU WILL SHED THE FAT (even with the 150 calories of M&Ms).

Just remember to do this in moderation. Liveexercise is about a healthy lifestyle. You need to eat the nutrients that your body requires to stay healthy, fight infection and deal with the brutal workouts. Make sure that you get the great stuff in there as the majority of your fuel.

Try it!

For those of you who are getting down to those last few pounds you may experience what I am starting to right now. My Body is literally fighting me to keep the fat on, just in case I need it to survive at some point down the road. So, I can tell you that my appetite is out of control.

How do I combat this? Planning planning planning! I know what I will be eating tonight for the rest of the day and have back up plans just in case everything goes awry - Tea - salad with lemon juice, you name it.

The ONLY way to get where you need to go is with a great deal of planning and fail-safe plans, just in case.

I have had this expanding and shrinking roll around my stomach for most of my life (with the exception of when I was competing in bodybuilding) and I have had it.
