Sticky spots on bands
Hi guys! I've noticed that some of my bands have a spot on them that feels sticky when I rub my finger of it. When I try to adjust the lengths of the bands in the door anchor, the band sticks on that spot.
What is this and how do I remedy it!
Thanks!

Hi Jason,
I believe that is a smudged area on your bands. Most likely developed from the band coming in contact with something used to anchor it (perhaps a foot anchor). This kind of thing may happen if the band is allowed to rub against the anchor point of contact whatever the anchor may be. I would not describe it as sticky but not as smooth as the rest of the band. The good news is that it is just a smudge and will not effect the general performance of the elastic. The bands have many layers of latex built up on one another as a result of the continuous dip method of creating them. If the band becomes smudged that's just the final finish layer. If you can see the natural color of the latex then the band is damaged and should be replaced in accordance with the warranty. If you ever have questions about the band, feel free to send me a picture support@bodylastics.com.
There is no way to remedy this as it is a result of use. The way to prevent this is to not allow the band to rub against the anchor point, most often a foot anchor.
With respect to cleaning the bands, use a clean cloth and warm water after your workout for the day.
If you have further question, please feel free to ask.
regards,

Thanks Ashanti! You've described the situation perfectly. There doesn't appear to be any damage. I'll clean them tonight. I can't live without my bands!

Hi,
Could some one plz tell me how often we need to clean the bands (with warm water and a cloth as described above)? My bands are hardly a month old and there are no signs of wear n tear or dirt accumulation. Should I still clean them?
Also it would be nice if some one could give us good advice on caring for the bands so that they last us longer.
Thanks folks!!

Hi Yusuf,
Take that clean cloth with warm water and wipe them down an that will show you if there is any dirt on them. There is no set rule for how often one should clean them as it depends on the conditions under which you use them for your workout routine. Some use these bands outside and probably would need to clean them more often then I do because I use them indoors. But a number of people use the bands I use so we clean them rather often. You can make the call on how often you elect to clean them.

Hi Yusuf, gently washing the straps by hand to remove the sweat and prevent the smell is probably best.
A washing machine isn't so gentle and may fray the fabric that covers the Neoprene on the ankle straps.
Make sure the metal rings are dry or they may show signs of rust.

Right...I would not put any of the bodylastics equipment in the wash or submerge them in water at all. I am not sure why one would need to wash the door anchor, but I guess it might get dirty. The handles, I have never washed but I have wiped them down with warm water and no detergent. Adi is right. Never leave the metal parts wet, be sure to dry them. Ankle straps, I would be very gentle with. You can gentle clean them with warm water and a clean cloth but I would just allow them to air out after each use rather then washing them. That neoprene is a soft material and will not stand up to scrubbing.
Looks like all I could do here and confirm Adi's post. It really is great to have workout partners from all around the world helping each other....sometimes that works better then getting help form us directly......sometimes (*smiles*).
good job on this post people!

Thanks for answering my queries related to cleaning my Bodylastics set. I have another question. I'll be travelling this week. I hope these these bands would get through airport security. I'm not too sure what's inside these bands... hoping its not metal n stuff...
A quick response would be really appreciated!!!
Thanks a ton!!

I've travelled by plane with my Bodylastics before and had no problems whatsoever! They do have metal in the handles and the carrabina clips....but that is not a problem.

Be nice to the workers and they should let that through for a carry on brother.
Clips are metal but inside the band is no metal. It should be fine...where you going?
