Our newspaper has been following various workout classes throughout the month of January with photo galleries and today's class was slightly disturbing. It is a HIIT Bootcamp put on by certified personal trainer and Navy SEAL Candidate. The pictures looked really tough and fun...until I saw the puke bucket with the words "Earn It".
Not only are participants worked hard, but they are encouraged to work hard enough that they have the use the bucket. It is sort of like a badge of honor for the bootcamp participants. That is totally disturbing and gross in my opinion. When I do HIIT (or Toning/Abs for that matter) I work myself to the point of exhaustion and nausea, but if I actually did cross the line into vomiting territory I probably wouldn't do HIIT anymore. Maybe I am not doing it right, but there is NO exercise in the world I would do (not matter how fun and beneficial) if it constantly caused that kind of reaction out of me.
Guess I will just stick with my bands, wussified HIIT routine, and keep my exercise life vomit-free.
I may not always agree with speed of reps, resistance used, etc. in 'Chiseled' and I'm often bitching at my bands when trying to work on my strength, because I don't think the system was made for that,
BUT
I have an enormous amount of respect for Blake and Ashanti who on most mornings are doing the 'Chiseled' workouts so early in the day. It takes a lot of determination to go through some of those shows with only a breakfast as energy supply.
So I just ordered my Bodylastics resistance bands, now I'm wondering which show to start with.
I'm 300lbs+, so I'm thinking nothing too extreme.
Some fitness professional clown on another website wrote a blog entry where he compared continuously looped resistance bands with traditional bands such as the bands sold by Bodylastics. He made several mistakes in his entry (or he simply lied) by saying the following about traditional resistance bands:
1. It is not possible to properly perform dead lifts.
Wrong. I have performed dead lifts with a fair amount of resistance with and without the handles.
2. Assisted pull ups are not possible.
Of course we know that is wrong since we perform them quite frequently on Chiseled.
3. Continuously looped bands are significantly more durable than traditional bands.
Of course we know that Bodylastics bands are made with the highest quality material and construction and stand up any other band, continuously looped or not. Perhaps he just simply doesn't know how to use traditional bands properly.
4. There’s not a lot of high-quality training information being offered by any of the companies that sell traditional resistance bands.
I know that this clown is familiar with liveexercise.com and the many different workout shows offered here. He just simply lied on this point.
He made some fairly valid points in other areas, but he tainted his entire blog entry by making some stupid and uninformed comments on some topics and outright lying on others.
The proof is in the pudding. We prove here day in and day out that Bodylastics is the original and the best, bar none.
