I was talking to a gentleman in the waiting room at the physical therapist office today. He had lost 50 pounds in the last year. I asked him how he had done it. He said he had been using P90x and P90x one on one. It came out that he had spent $650 on P90x, P90x one on one vols. 1 and 2, plus needed equipment. He was thinking of spending another $240 to get P90x one on one vol. 3. That seemed insane to me.

I told him that for $35 he could get a Bodylastics Max Tension resistance band set. Then he could head over to Liveexercise.com and have access to over 1,400 workouts. The economics make much more sense. He then told me that "Tony Horton is a genius. Those other guys probably don't know what they're doing. You'll get hurt."

He ripped a muscle in his shoulder while doing push ups. He had his feet in a chair and his hands on a balance ball. His hand slipped off the ball and he fell on his arm at an awkward angle. He was injured during a P90x one on one workout. Yet, he defends Tony Horton by saying the other guys might be dangerous.

I guess some people have to defend things after they invest so much in to them. The episode reminded me to remain open minded regardless of how much I have invested in a particular thing, system, or cause.

It also reminded me why I love Live Exercise. For the cost of admission it can't be beat.

I started using bodylastics 46 days ago in preparation for going to Cuba in August. After only this time I am seeing great changes in my body especially upper body. My legs are genetically small so I know it will take a while for them to catch up. I never miss a workout but my diet lets me down. I have a few good days then let myself down. I work 5 days a week from 8 till 4 so usually work out after work. I was hoping someone would have a good diet I could follow so I can strip this fat and start seeing my abs. Help!!!!!!

Too Much Cardio?
Posted April 3, 2012 by Ike Chavalia in Exercises, Nutrition
Hey all I thaught I'd post a question regarding cardio and diet. Bit of information I'm 5'7" 172lb and I've been trying to burn this last bit of fat and while mataining my mussle even gain if possable. I've been doing the workouts for about 3-4months and love them. Druing the week I get up and typically do an hour of cardio, usually 70-80% MHR on average burning 550-700 cals per session, then I do chiseled and either eight pack or 10 min abs after work in the afternoon. Weekends varies depending if there a chiseled show if not I typically to hard cardio for an hour and sundays I take off doing Yoga or streching. I can't seem to break through this last bit to start burning the remaining fat I have and was wondering if I was doing to much cardio and causeing my body to hold on to the calories I'm taking in. My diet is good I take in around 2400 callories a day with 200-250g of that being protein eaqual amounts of carbs and picking the rest of my callories from healthy fats. I've been doing the cardo part of my routine for the better part of 6mo. I was just wondering if I reduce my time and intensity and pick up some more weight training if I could get my body in to gear.

Thanks in advance

I go by the name of Fatty 'R Buckle. It is a play on names, but in reality I am not THAT fat. I am a 5'9" tall male, and on February 1 weighed 195 pounds. "Stocky" you say? Yeah, in the mid section, but I have bird legs. So, let's just say that my tummy is at LEAST 36 inches (belly fat hanging over my belt)but my legs are that of a gazelle. My chest is normal, perhaps a little developed because of life-long lifting things correctly after a high school football spinal fusion. Alright. That is how I am made up. So, to begin things, I am going to tell you that I purchased Bodylastics basic set (2 handles, 2 anchors, the colors but no black or orange)for my GIRLFRIEND who has recently had 3-level cervical fusion with plates put in --- yeah, the Peyton Manning surgery but 3 levels, not the 1 level he had. Fast forward --- she has not used them, but I started to use them the first week of February. At the time, I was taking anti-depressants after having been diagnosed with Major Depression. I weighed 195 and, after purchasing some calipers to measure my body fat, my composition was somewhere between 40% and 45% body fat -- almost all around my mid-section. This is where my story begins and where I will pick up from next time I post. Today is March 18th. I weigh 179. I am no longer taking anti-depressants. My body fat is now at 20%. This blog is about how I have gotten to this point using Bodylastics resistance bands, getting serious about how I eat (don't kid yourself, I have been eating French food!), how I continue to enjoy my drinks, and where I intend to go next. Until next time.... Fatty
